Celebrating over 50 years of inspiring dance in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

RAD Chief Executive, Elizabeth Honer, and Artistic Director, Alexander Campbell, have just returned from Berlin to celebrate 50 years of the RAD in Germany and Austria, and 55 years in Switzerland.
Last Friday, a celebratory drinks reception was held with a dance demonstration and a welcoming address by the British Ambassador to Germany. Elizabeth reported back on the rest of the weekend: “On Saturday, after an excellent warm-up by one of our examiners, Emily Koschyk, Alexander coached members on aspects of progression through grades 1-5. I participated, which they loved!
The evening saw a visit to see Swan Lake at Staatsoper unter den Linden (Berlin State Opera), and on Sunday, I spent a long time meeting with Astrid Neuhaus, the national director responsible for all three countries.
It was a great honour to celebrate 50 years of the RAD in Germany and Austria, and indeed 55 in Switzerland, in Berlin. The RAD has been instrumental in inspiring and empowering dancers of all ages across the region with so many lives across the three nations transformed through dance. The warmest and biggest thank you to our colleagues, RAD members and teachers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for their fantastic work and dedication.”
