This double bill webinar covers two topics. You can choose to attend one or both.
Session One: Exam Ready: Preparing for smooth running and stress free exam sessions
This course is designed to support the smooth running of exams for all involved – students, teachers and examiners. It will outline the processes involved with organising exams with specific reference to the Exam Specifications
Aims:
The aims of this activity are to:
- Support new teachers to be well prepared for exams in their studios
- Raise the awareness of teachers to the processes involved with AEC exams with reference to the Exam Specifications
- Reduce the stress teachers experience in organising exams enabling students, teachers and examiners to enjoy the exam session
Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the activity participants will:

Understand the different requirements and processes involved with AEC exams
Understand the importance of referring to the Exam Specifications and following the processes outlined
Recommended preparation:
Teachers should familiarise themselves with the Exam Specifications and will be asked to have a copy accessible at the webinar. Participants will also be asked to have access to the exams section of the members’ area during the webinar if possible.

Session Two: Focus on Class Awards
This webinar focuses on the Class Award format, with the aim to provide RAD teachers with guidance regarding how to prepare and present their students for this type of assessment. By looking at what a Class Award is, what work is presented, and how marks are awarded, teachers will also gain a better understanding of when a Class Award might be an appropriate option for their students. A question and answer session will complete the webinar.
Aims:
The aim of this webinar is to improve knowledge and understanding of the Class Awards assessment format with a particular focus on the assessment mode, content, marking criteria and general guidance regarding the role of the teacher when delivering a Class Award.

On completion of the webinar you will:
- have an increased understanding of the Class Award assessment format, content and marking criteria.
- have an increased understanding regarding the role of the teacher in delivering a Class Award.
Recommended Preparation
A basic understanding of the RAD syllabus Pre-Primary in Dance – Grade 5.

Karen Macleod
The tutor for this course is Karen Macleod, an RAD Teacher for nearly 50 years, 32 of which were as director of her own school. She has been an RAD examiner for nearly 40 years and a standardisation examiner for over 12 years. She was also a CPD tutor for 15 years.
In all her different roles with the RAD, Karen always upholds the values of the RAD and this course has been created as a result of her keen interest in supporting new teachers to have well organised exam sessions with as little stress as possible.
The National Director will also contribute to the webinar with information on the administrative processes including reasonable adjustments, results, certificates, results enquiries, appeals etc

Fees
- All fees are inclusive of GST. The Academy reserves the right to amend fees where either tax changes take place during a calendar year or circumstances, such as the introduction of or a devaluation of a currency.
- We reserve the right to charge a surcharge for application forms received after the closing date.
- Payment for activities should be submitted separately from payment for resources.
Closing Dates
Closing dates will be published locally, but the general rule is that closing dates is two weeks prior to the date of the Seminar.
- Applicants are asked to apply early to ensure a place as each Seminar has a limited number of places.
General Terms and Conditions
- All applications and payments will be processed in order of receipt.
- Correspondence will be sent primarily via email, if the email address is incorrect the RAD cannot be held responsible for missed or misdirected email communications.
- Written confirmation of your application will not be sent until the closing date.
- Applications are non-transferable.
- All participants must be aged 16 and over.
- A Tax Invoice/Receipt will be issued and posted after the course together with the Certificate of Attendance and Transcript.
- The Academy reserves the right to alter the advertised programme and/or tutor without prior notice. The information in this and other printed or electronic brochures/notices is correct at the time of print or going online.
- If participant information is not received it is the responsibility of the individual who completed the booking to contact CPD department to arrange for the information to be reissued:
- Any CPD Value that an activity may carry is awarded in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of the RAD CPD Scheme. Any CPD Value accrued cannot be transferred between applicants.
Withdrawals, Transfers and Refunds
Participants who withdraw voluntarily will have their activity fees refunded, as follows:
- Withdrawals before the final closing date will receive a 90% refund.
- Withdrawals between the final closing date and six (6) working days prior to the activity will receive a 50% refund.
- There will be no refund for withdrawals made five (5) or fewer working days prior to the start of the activity.
- Participants who have to withdraw due to injury or illness, either before or after the closing date but before the activity starts, will receive a 90% refund, subject to the receipt of medical evidence.
Participants are strongly advised not to book travel or accommodation until receipt of final participant confirmation that the activity is taking place, usually 5 working days prior to the activity start date. The RAD will not accept liability for travel, accommodation or any other expenses incurred by participants.
Insurance
Participants are advised to consider taking out insurance against withdrawal due to injury/illness, medical treatment, or hospitalisation, or due to personal or family reasons which might prevent them completing the activity. Participants with an existing injury attend at their own risk.
Force Majeure
The RAD shall not be liable to refund fees or any other penalty should activities be cancelled due to any cause whatsoever beyond their control.
