Who’s it for?
These courses are open to all ballet teachers. They are recommended for early and mid-career teachers.

Contact:
Half-day practical courses in which participating teachers will be able to review and build on their existing knowledge and understanding of the RAD Grades 1–3 set exercises. These courses are recommended for those who have completed the Introduction to Grades 1-3 Teachers’ Course and want to revisit key aspects.

Aims
The aims of the courses are:
- to provide an overview of syllabus exercises allowing teachers to refresh and expand their existing knowledge in relation to the syllabus content,
- to exemplify the required movements as notated in the publication, The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique,
- to clarify the process, methodology, music and development of the vocabulary and choreography found in the syllabus, and
- to provide an opportunity for teachers to understand the mark scheme and how these apply to the preparation of students for assessment: Examinations, Class Awards and Solo Performance Awards where appropriate.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the courses, you will have in depth knowledge and understanding of:
- the development of the vocabulary, choreography and music found in the syllabus,
- the vocabulary used in each grade in relation to the publication, The Foundations of Classical Ballet Technique,
- the methodology and processes of teaching each grade, and
- the mark scheme and how it applies to the preparation of students for assessment: Examinations, Class Awards and Solo Performance Awards.

Recommended Preparation
Participants should have knowledge of the set exercises of the applicable grade, and knowledge and understanding of the Specifications relating to Grades 1-3.
Tutor
Kim Frost RAD teaching cert, L.I.S.T.D, NBS teaching Dip.
Kim trained at the Northern Ballet School in Manchester. After graduating, she gained valuable performance experience dancing in professional shows and on cruise ships before returning to her hometown of Barnsley, South Yorkshire to begin her teaching career.
She is the Principal of the Kim Frost School of Dance and has 26 years of experience teaching all age groups, from toddler dance to vocational grades and adult dance classes. Kim became a CPD tutor in 2017.
Kim lives in Barnsley with her husband and two daughters. When she is not dancing, she enjoys long walks with her Border Collie, Teddy, in the Yorkshire countryside and spending quality time with her family.
