With the rise of ‘Consent Protocols’ across most industries, it can feel confusing to know what is ok and what is not and as a first step, teachers often remove all touch from dance spaces. This two-part interactive webinar will balance theory, practice and discussion to equip you with the confidence to address consent with ease.

Aim

The aims of this webinar are to:

  • understand the frameworks, languages and practices that will assist you to address consent with ease and authority,
  • understand and consider the Commonwealth Framework alongside industry protocols from Intimacy Directors and Coordinator’s 5 Pillars of Intimacy,
  • explore power dynamics, agency, accountability and touch titration in dance, and
  • engage with consent through discussions, games and simple practices/techniques.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this webinar, you will have:

  • gained knowledge and/or enhanced understanding of the frameworks, language and practices of consent and intimacy in dance,
  • gained knowledge and/or enhanced understanding of the 5 Pillars of Intimacy,
  • explored power dynamics, agency, accountability and touch titration in dance, and
  • explored practices/techniques to assist you in addressing consent with ease.

  • Consider your own experiences with consent and intimacy as a dance teacher and come prepared with any questions
