This webinar focuses on the Class Award format, with the aim to provide RAD teachers with guidance regarding how to prepare and present their students for this type of assessment. By looking at what a Class Award is, what work is presented, and how marks are awarded, teachers will also gain a better understanding of when a Class Award might be an appropriate option for their students. A question-and-answer session will complete the webinar.

Aim

The aim of this webinar is to:

  • Improve knowledge and understanding of the Class Awards assessment format with a particular focus on the assessment mode, content, marking criteria and general guidance regarding the role of the teacher when delivering a Class Award.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this webinar, you will:

  • have an increased understanding of the Class Award assessment format, content and marking criteria, and
  • have an increased understanding regarding the role of the teacher in delivering a Class Award.

Format

Live webinar via Zoom

Includes a presentation and question-and-answer sessions. Participation in practical elements is encouraged but not essential.

Recommended preparation

  • A basic understanding of the RAD syllabus Pre-Primary in Dance – Grade 5.

Tutor

Lindsay Ellman-Brown

Lindsay was born and raised in Zimbabwe and then moved to London in 1985 and trained at the College of the Royal Academy of Dance in London. Returning home to dance with the National Ballet of Zimbabwe, she also choreographed and produced full-length ballets for the company. Lindsay ran her own ballet school with over 250 students for 10 years in Zimbabwe before immigrating to Australia. She holds a Diploma and Licentiate from the RAD, as well as a master’s degree in Dance Teaching from QUT. Becoming an RAD Examiner in 1999, Lindsay travels extensively both nationally and internationally, examining and teaching.
